Natural Knife Cases

Packaging tells the story of a company. It speaks before the product is seen, translating the company values, the brand style, and their consideration for the environment. Packaging enables the recipient to understand a little about the company before opening the product.

The Brief

In 1932, the two brothers founded Helle Knives. Today, their descendants uphold the belief that items can be both functional and aesthetic, as reflected in their current choice of packaging. Helle believes that the casing surrounding each knife deserves the same care, attention, and celebration as their products.

Helle Knives

Two brothers noticed that the knives used by farmers in their community needed improvement. They also noticed that on Sundays, the farmers preferred to wear decorative 'dress knives' to church. An idea was formed to combine the two and create knives that were functional, durable and beautiful - craftmanship that would set a new standard in Scandinavian knife production.

Our Solution

We crafted a recyclable cylindrical case with a matte finish for an organic feel. With a simple twist, the lid opens easily due to a small hole at the base to allow the air to flow through and prevent resistance. The case is decorated with their natural environment displaying the map of Norway and showcasing Helle’s roots, their love of nature, and the importance of representing both.
